Clinically tested and verified, tungsten eye shields offer effective protection for the ocular structure against electrons up to 9MeV. We provide tungsten shield blanks in large, medium, and small sizes.
T&D Tungsten Eye Shields come with both 0.5 mm and 1 mm thick anodized aluminum caps (included with each tungsten eye shield) to minimize electron backscatter to the eyelid. When placed superficially, the eye shield can be used without the aluminum cap. These have less transmission than other eye shields.
For 6 MeV, it is recommended to use the 2 mm tungsten eye shield, while for 9 MeV, the 3 mm tungsten eye shield is advised. It’s important to note that these tungsten eye shields are not recommended for use above 9 MeV. The user must assess an acceptable level of backscatter to determine whether to use the 0.5 mm or 1 mm aluminum cap.
