Tungsten Rhenium Thermocouple Wire

Tungsten-Rhenium thermocouple is a high-temperature resistant thermocouple. It has the advantages of a good linear relationship between temperature and electric potential, reliable thermal stability, low price, and so on.

Tungsten-Rhenium thermocouple is a high-temperature resistant thermocouple. It has the advantages of a good linear relationship between temperature and electric potential, reliable thermal stability, low price, and so on. Matching with a display instrument, it can directly measure the temperature of liquid, steam and gas medium, etc. It can be used in the range of 0~2300℃ in a vacuum, reduction, and inert atmosphere.

It can partly replace platinum-rhodium thermocouples as an ultrahigh temperature measuring tool in new metallurgical industries, high-temperature electronic thermal engineering structure systems, space vehicles, and nuclear reactors.

Tungsten-Rhenium thermocouple alloy combinations were specifically designed to meet the need for accurate temperature measurement at extremely high levels, reaching temperatures as high as 2315°C.

T&D makes available two widely used Tungsten-Rhenium thermocouple alloy combinations:

Type C: Tungsten 5% Rhenium (+) vs. Tungsten 26% Rhenium (-)
Type D: Tungsten 3% Rhenium (+) vs. Tungsten 25% Rhenium (-)

Diameters: 0.003” ; 0.005” ; 0.010” ; 0.015” and 0.020”

Type C thermocouple: Tungsten 5% Rhenium versus Tungsten 26% Rhenium. This alloy is very stable at high temperatures but cannot be used in oxidizing environments. T&D keeps type C thermocouple wire in stock for you.

Type D thermocouple: Tungsten 5% Rhenium versus Tungsten 25% Rhenium. Type D thermocouples are industry terms and not official letter-designated thermocouples. T&D supplies Type D thermocouples at your request.

To guarantee accuracy, T&D sells Tungsten-Rhenium thermocouple wire only in matched pairs. Because of the inherent brittleness of unalloyed Tungsten, Rhenium has been added to the positive leg of types C and D to improve handling characteristics.
